I'm Nicola from Gyda Ti Counselling. The phrase gyda ti is Welsh for with you and that’s exactly how I work: I’ll be alongside you at every step of your counselling journey.
I am a qualified counsellor, based Cardiff, offering both in-person and online counselling to adults in the UK. I have seven years experience of offering therapy to clients at a further education college and for a national mental health charity. Before becoming a counsellor, I held various roles in education, including safeguarding, managing a learning support service and teaching adult literacy.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (membership no. 385263), ensuring safe and ethical practice by adhering to its Ethical Framework. You can find out more about the BACP at www.bacp.co.uk
Life can be hard at times. Although I believe that we all have the potential for growth and change, as well as the ability to navigate life's challenges, there are times when it can feel a bit too much to face things alone. This is where counselling can really help. My aim is to offer you a safe confidential space where you can express yourself and explore the issues you bring to counselling in any way you wish. I am not here to judge you but to listen, understand things from your perspective and work with you to find a way forward.
I have a warm, approachable manner which, I hope, will help us develop a secure and trusting therapeutic relationship. During the counselling process, I won't tell you what's best for you or what you should do, but will give you the time and space to decide for yourself. Talking through your thoughts, feelings and experiences in this way can help you gain clarity and a better understanding of your situation.
I have worked with and helped a broad range of clients over the years, who have brought many different issues to counselling.
Some of the areas I have experience of include:
Abuse, anger, bereavement, body dysmorphia, bullying, depression, disability and ill health, domestic abuse, eating disorders, exam stress, family issues, infertility, financial difficulties, homelessness, loneliness, low self-esteem, menopause, OCD, relationships, relationships, sexual violence, substance misuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation, trauma, work-related stress.
I also have a great deal of experience of working with college and university students.
In addition to the above, I regularly undertake further training and development opportunities. This keeps my knowledge and skills up-to-date and helps to meet clients' needs.
Individual Counselling
I offer face-to face and online counselling sessions for individuals aged 18 and over on the following days:
I offer an initial meeting, free of charge, lasting up to 30 minutes. It will be an opportunity to discuss what you’d like to achieve through counselling, as well as ask any questions you may have. If you decide that I might be the right counsellor for you, then we will book our first session together.
Pricing
Counselling costs £50 per session. I also hold a limited number of spaces at a reduced rate for students in full time education and trainee counsellors. I take payment in advance via bank transfer.
